Gateway Services has Employment Advisors fluent in sign language, as well as a certified ASL interpreter on staff to assist you.

  • The first step is to identify who will pay for your employment services.  We may refer you to VR (Vocational Rehabilitation) to get your services started.  Another option is for you to be funded thru your Ticket to Work you may have received from Social Security Administration.  We can assist you in the identifying the best option for you and how to contact these programs.
  • After your funding source has been identified, our staff will meet with you to determine what type of job you are looking for and what support you may need to obtain and keep a job.
  • If you are receiving any public benefits (SSDI, SSI, Medicare, or Medicaid) you may have concerns about how going to work or returning to work may affect your benefits.  We have BIN (Benefits Information Network) staff trained by Indiana Works to help you in finding out how your benefits could change with earnings.
  • Next, our qualified staff will assist you in applying for jobs and following up with potential employers.  If you need help with applications or making contacts, we will assist you so you will have every opportunity to obtain work.
  • We will assist in scheduling interpreters for interviews and once you obtain a job, we will work with your employer to schedule an interpreter for orientation, training, and other employer meetings for at least the first 90 days.
  • Once stable work has been found and you are working, we will discuss closing your case.  However, we strongly encourage you to contact us if you start having problems with your employer so we can possibly assist you in your situation and avoid job loss.
